Beyond Achievements And Titles.
The SYFoA Fellowship selection is a two-stage process designed to identify candidates who are not only qualified on paper, but genuinely ready to lead, grow, and build.
Written Application
Submit your completed application by 30 September 2026.
Our panel reviews each application independently, looking beyond achievements and titles for depth of story, quality of reflection, strength of your SLP concept, and genuine commitment to the fellowship.
Only candidates who meet our threshold advance to the interview stage.
Virtual Interview
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a structured virtual interview between 1–15 November 2026.
This conversation is an opportunity for us to understand who you are beyond your written responses, and for you to demonstrate your alignment with the SYFoA vision, your leadership potential, and the viability of your Story-Led Project.
What We Assess
The selection process prioritises individuals who demonstrate key leadership qualities across nine core dimensions:
Our Review Philosophy
Cohort Considerations
In addition to individual evaluation, cohort composition is intentionally curated to ensure a rich, multi-perspective learning environment. We consider:

- ✓ Gender balance
- ✓ Underrepresented communities
- ✓ Cross-cultural perspectives
- ✓ Peer learning contribution potential
- ✓ Strong communication presence
- ✓ Collaborative potential
- ✓ Distinct lived experience
Intentional Diversity: Assembling a multi-dimensional cohort designed to challenge, support, and elevate one another across disciplines and communities.
Unfiltered Voice: We value original thought, raw honesty, and genuine self-reflection over automated perfection.

All responses must be original, truthful, non-plagiarized, and not AI generated.
Applications may be disqualified or deprioritised for:
- ✗ AI-generated/generic responses lacking authenticity
- ✗ Contradictory information
- ✗ Unrealistic projects
- ✗ Evidence of plagiarism
- ✗ Failure to meet commitment requirements
